Whew...it's been a while. Madeline and I visited Kansas a couple of weekends ago for my cousin's graduation. It was a very short weekend...in and out. Madeline graduated from preschool so now she's officially a "big kindergartner." We moved into our house in New Berlin and we absolutely love it. So much space, a dry basement, beautiful landscaping and it even comes with a house ghost!! We think TJ may have played a few harmless tricks on us. I say harmless but I was pretty upset to have to take an ice cold shower. For some reason the hot water would stop working randomly...hmmm. And the lights in the kitchen? They'd work then they wouldn't. We were baffled. So we chalk all the abnormalities into having a ghost which is really okay...it's kind of nice to think that TJ might still be around in some way. Madeline and I are getting ready for the recital. Shew ill be performing for the first time on stage and my big dilemma is how to get her baby fine hair to stay curly enough to make it to her dance. Thank God she's fairly close to the beginning of the show! I asked our hairstylist Kate and she gave me some suggestions to make it stay. It might take three washings to get all the gunk out by by God she will have curly hair!!! I have 10 dances in the recital so I'll be keeping busy during the show myself. If you'd like to come drop me a line and I'll give you the deets. I promise it will be very entertaining!
I can't end this blog without including a few funny things that happened this week with Madeline. Wednesday evening I made us some tacos for dinner. I stuck hers in the microwave for a few seconds to melt the cheese and when I gave it to her I warned her that it would probably be pretty warm. She said ok and then proceeded to take a big bite out of it. She drops it to the plate and tells me it's hot. I said "I told you it was." She said, "no you didn't...you said it was warm." My response? "that's the same thing." Hers? "No it's not. In Goldilocks and three bears warm meant that it was just right. Hot was hot and cold was cold." Well, I stand corrected.
During that same meal she's comparing the toppings on our tacos. She said, "wow, you like meat and cheese just like I do! But you also like black olivers on yours." She cracks me up.
Earlier this week we were walking through the store and she informs me that she's walking funny (funny being with locked knees and her feet really far apart) because it helps her not dig at her crouch. I corrected her and said "the word in crotch but you look like you've had an accident in your pants so please don't walk like that." Ever once in a while I'll see her walking like she's pooped her pants and I have to remind her to stop. She really doesn't like her underwear touching her skin so she's constantly pulling at it. I finally told her that her panties are to fit like her swimsuit and to leave them alone!!!
One last thing...last night Madeline, Dan's mom Sue and I went to Little Flower's carnival. We're standing in line to buy drink/food tickets and Madeline asks me if she can have soda with dinner for a special treat. I agree and just then Sue turns to Madeline to confirm the soda request. Madeline blurts out "no, I want beer!!" The line was fairly long and no one standing near us appeared to have a hearing problem so naturally I was a bit mortified. I hope they don't think we allow her to have beer!!!!!

Lyila - You have to use those bendable sticks for her hair. You dampen a section of her hair with hair product and then use one of those paper things and then wrap her hair around the stick. Sit for a few hours and her hair will look like Shirley Temple for a long time!!!!
